How to Play Empire City

Empire City is set in ancient times, where you start with nothing but a blank slate and two trusted advisors: Julia and Flavius. Together, you’ll design a flourishing city, including essential structures like roads, residential buildings, workshops, and waterways.

The game begins with a tutorial led by Julia and Flavius, who will guide you through the initial steps of building your city. Once you get the hang of it, you’re free to proceed on your own. But don’t worry—if you ever need assistance, your advisors are just a click away.

Julia and Flavius will lead you through these early instructions:

Julia: \"Welcome to your new city, Prefect! I’m Julia, and I run the local inn—I know everything about everyone here. This is Flavius, our architect.\"

Flavius: \"I let my work speak for itself! Our first project is a residential building. Let’s begin!\"

Julia: \"Don’t forget, every building in the city needs to be connected to a road.\"

Action: Build a road.

Flavius: \"Well done, Prefect! The building is ready. Now, we can house our first citizens!\"

Julia: \"People? There\'s hardly room for one! The building needs an upgrade.\"

Action: Upgrade the building to a house.

Flavius: \"There’s a problem. We need clay to make the house larger, but it’s mined outside the city.\"

Julia: \"If the quarry is even functional! It’s in poor shape, and the tool storage is falling apart. But I’m sure the Prefect can fix this!\"

Action: Repair the clay quarry.

Julia: \"Now we can hire a manager. But before that, we need to construct a road to bring the clay into the city.\"

Action: Build a road.

Flavius: \"Nice work on the road, Prefect! Now, gather the clay, and my workers will transport it to the construction site.\"

Action: Collect the clay.

Flavius: \"Thanks for the help! I\'ll start upgrading the house now!\"

Julia: \"You and Flavius are doing great! Let’s add a second floor to the house, with a view of the city!\"

Flavius: \"Regular clay won’t suffice for an additional floor. We’ll need clay mixture, a stronger material.\"

Julia: \"Unfortunately, we don’t have that in the city. However, the Prefect could authorize the construction of a special workshop to make it.\"

Julia: \"If you’re in a rush, use gems! They speed up any project. The first time is free, of course.\"

Action: Use gems.

Flavius: \"Excellent choice, Prefect! Now we won’t be short on materials. Let’s start producing the clay mixture.\"

Julia: \"Production can take some time. Once it’s ready, you’ll see an icon above the workshop.\"

Action: Wait for production to finish.

Flavius: \"It’s ready! Tap the icon to move the mixture to the warehouse.\"

Action: Move the mixture to the warehouse.

Julia: \"So, are we going to upgrade the house, or leave it unfinished as a design choice?\"
